ClickFunnels and Systeme.io sell the same promise: one login instead of six. Funnels, email, courses, checkout, hosting — all in one place, so you stop paying five vendors and stop debugging integrations at midnight.

They arrive at that promise from opposite directions. ClickFunnels is the incumbent with the bigger ecosystem and the bigger invoice. Systeme.io is the challenger that gives away more for free than most competitors sell.

The honest answer is that the price gap is real, it is large, and for most people reading this it is the whole decision. But the gap narrows if you need things Systeme.io genuinely does not do. Here is where each one wins.

The short version

  • Choose Systeme.io if you are a solo creator, coach, or small business selling courses or digital products, and the monthly cost matters. The free plan is genuinely usable, and the paid tiers cost a fraction of the alternative.
  • Choose ClickFunnels if your business already runs on its ecosystem and templates, you rely on its custom code editor, or you want the deepest bench of consultants and tutorials to lean on.

Pricing, side by side

Both companies publish their pricing openly. These are the list prices as of August 29, 2026.

TierSysteme.ioClickFunnels
Free$0 — 3 funnels, 2,000 contacts, 1 custom domain, unlimited emailsNone (free trial only)
Entry paid$17/mo — 10 funnels, 5,000 contacts, 3 domains$97/mo ($81 annually) — 10K contacts, 1 workspace, 3 courses
Mid$47/mo — 50 funnels, 10,000 contacts, evergreen webinars$197/mo ($164 annually) — 75K contacts, 5 workspaces, 6 courses
Top$97/mo — unlimited everything$297/mo ($248 annually), or $5,997/yr for the highest tier

The comparison that matters: Systeme.io’s most expensive plan — unlimited funnels, unlimited contacts, unlimited everything — costs $97/mo. That is the same price as ClickFunnels’ cheapest plan, which caps you at 10,000 contacts, one workspace, and three courses.

Over a year, that is $1,164 against $3,564 at list price. The difference is roughly the cost of a decent laptop, every year, forever.

Where the money actually goes

A 3x price difference usually means one product is missing something. Here is what you are actually buying with the extra spend.

What ClickFunnels has that Systeme.io does not

  • A custom code editor and webhooks from the Scale tier up. If you plan to wire the platform into a bespoke stack or inject custom scripts, this is the concrete gap.
  • Defined team seat tiers — 2 members on Launch, 5 on Scale, 10 on Optimize, 20 on the top tier, with the plan structure built around that.
  • A far larger template and community ecosystem. This is not a feature you can list on a spec sheet, but it is real: more share funnels, more consultants who already know the tool, more tutorials for the exact thing you are stuck on.

What Systeme.io has that ClickFunnels does not

  • A free plan you can actually run a business on. 3 funnels, 2,000 contacts, unlimited emails, 1 custom domain, and — unusually — 0% transaction fees. Most “free” tiers in this category are demos. This one is not.
  • 0% transaction fees on every tier, including free. Worth checking against whatever you use now; percentage-of-revenue fees compound quietly.
  • Unlimited emails on every plan, including free. Email sending is metered separately on ClickFunnels (50K/mo on Launch, 300K on Scale).
  • Unlimited file storage on every tier.
  • Unlimited sub-accounts on every plan, including free. This surprised us. Each sub-account is an isolated workspace with its own funnels, contacts, sequences, products, and domain, switchable from one dashboard, with two permission levels for invited team members or clients. ClickFunnels meters the equivalent by tier (1 workspace on Launch, 5 on Scale, 10 on Optimize).

Three questions that decide it

1. Do you need to inject custom code?

This is the clearest remaining gap. ClickFunnels ships a custom code editor and webhook access from the Scale tier. If your funnels need custom scripts or you are wiring the platform into something bespoke, that is worth paying for.

Note that separate client workspaces are not the deciding factor people often assume. Systeme.io offers unlimited sub-accounts on every plan, free included — where ClickFunnels caps them by tier.

2. How many contacts will you actually have in 12 months?

Be honest rather than optimistic. Systeme.io’s free tier holds 2,000 and the $17 tier holds 5,000. Most people reading a comparison article are not near those numbers yet. If you are, the calculation changes — but check it against your actual list, not your target.

3. How much is your time worth against the learning curve?

ClickFunnels’ ecosystem advantage is real. When you get stuck, someone has already written the answer. Systeme.io’s community is smaller, so you will occasionally be on your own. Whether that is worth $2,400 a year depends on how much you enjoy figuring things out.

Hands-on notes

I’ve run stores and sites on Shopify, WordPress, and Wix for about ten years, so “workspaces” isn’t an abstract feature to me — it’s the difference between managing one client and managing five without them tripping over each other’s data. That’s why I went and actually tested Systeme.io’s claim rather than taking the pricing page’s word for it.

I created a sub-account on the free plan. No approval step, no “upgrade to unlock” wall — it appeared instantly with its own contact, funnel, blog, course, and store counters, completely separate from the main account. That directly contradicts the assumption that isolated workspaces are a paid-tier feature; on Systeme.io they’re not tiered at all.

Where I actually got stuck was email, not funnels or workspaces. Building a funnel was fast — picking a goal auto-generated the page structure with a template attached. But setting up an email sequence hit a wall immediately: the sender address list was empty, because Systeme.io requires a verified domain under Settings before it will let you send anything. Nothing in the pricing page mentions this as a prerequisite for “unlimited emails.”

One small UI thing worth flagging if you’re coming from WordPress: clicking a headline in the page editor doesn’t just let you edit text. It opens the whole section’s settings panel — padding, margins, background — first. Not a dealbreaker, just a different mental model than block editors most people are used to.

The verdict

For most solo creators, coaches, and small businesses, Systeme.io is the better buy, and it is not close on price. The free plan removes the risk of finding out: you can build a real funnel, collect real emails, and take real payments without spending anything.

ClickFunnels earns its price when you need its custom code editor and webhooks, or when your business already runs on its ecosystem and switching would cost more than staying. Notably, “I need separate client workspaces” is not one of those reasons — Systeme.io gives you unlimited sub-accounts on the free plan.

If you are undecided, start on Systeme.io’s free plan. It costs nothing to find out whether the cheaper tool is enough, and if it is not, you will know exactly which missing feature sent you back.

Try it yourself: Systeme.io’s free plan is permanent, not a trial — 3 funnels, 2,000 contacts, unlimited emails, 0% transaction fees, and unlimited sub-accounts. Start on the free plan and find out in a weekend whether it covers what you need. (Affiliate link — see our disclosure.)
